4/7/12 at Frontier Field
Editors Note- I did not write this. Danny from NYBisons did. Check out their blog at nybisons.mlblogs.com
I want to start by saying I’m sorry for not sharing the pictures of Dwyer Stadium yet. I’m planning on doing a big picture entry this week and including those pictures in it.
The day started when Austin and I met the Voice of the Buffalo Bisons, Ben Wagner, for pizza at the Galleria Pizzeria in Rochester. Valentino Pascucci and Omar Quintinilla were also there. We also saw Dylan Owen and Chris Schwinden at Tim Horton’s. We arrived at Frontier Field at about 1:00 and played catch in the parking lot. The gates opened at 2:30 for the 4:00 game because it was Opening Day. As we were walking to the stadium at about 1:30, I found my first ball of the season sitting on the sidewalk. Ben let us inside the stadium at about 2:00 and we got the most annoying giveaway ever.
It’s a Red Wings cowbell. You can guess what we had to listen to all game. We also got a 2012 Red Wings magnet schedule.
I went to left field and got a home run within about 5 minutes. I also found 2 other baseballs just sitting there. Up until the game, I got 2 more toss-ups. One was from Bisons’ pitching coach Mark Brewer, and the other was from Red Wings’ pitching coach Bobby Cuellar.
As for the game…
Vinny Rottino singled home Omar Quintanilla and Jordany Valdespin in the third. Buffalo struck again in the fifth when Rottino hit a sac fly to right field to score Valdespin for a 3 run lead. Rochester began to come back in the fifth when Ray Chang scored off a Brian Dozier double. J. R. Towles went to third on that play and scored on a Joe Benson sac fly to right. Unfortunately for the Red Wings, those would be the only runs they scored. Vinny Rottino came on to the score board again in the eighth when he scored on a Rob Johnson sacrafice right field. I also got a ball in the seventh from Aaron Bates after he got the final out.
Austin and I were at the Buffalo dugout near the end of the game and each got a ball from Valentino Pascucci. I also got batting gloves from Bobby Scales. I did end up giving one ball away to a kid.
Austin took a few pictures at the game and we will share them soon.

So, that is it for today. teenredsfan, I still need your address to send your hat!

Thanks for reposting that! I’m either going to go to the Pelicans game on Tuesday, Wenesday, or Thursday, but I will not post the game review until the 12th because I forgot my camera cord to put in computer. You can repost that if you would like too.
